Seasoned Professional
Recruitment & Career Conference

Friday, January 27, 2006 | UCLA Campus

100,000 UCLA alumni have been invited.
Will you be there to recruit them?

Campus Recruiting--20 Years Later
In partnership with the UCLA Alumni Association and the UCLA Anderson School of Management, SeasonedPro offers your company a new career conference and recruiting format that will bring you face-to-face with well-educated, seasoned professionals. This career and recruitment event is built upon UCLA's commitment to reconnect with their professional alumni from all academic departments on campus - from architecture to zoology.

Our continuing sponsor Wells Fargo Bank has this to say about the Experienced Alumni Recruitment & Career Fair:
I've met candidates who have good management and sales experience as well as good team building backgrounds. Not to mention that they are all experienced at working in a corporate environment. I would definitely recommend this conference to other employers. Christine Folz, VP HR, Wells Fargo Bank

This recruitment and career conference will be marketed to over 100,000 working professionals using the UCLA alumni database — truly a one-of-a-kind opportunity to reach a highly educated labor market. Attendees pay a fee to go to the conference, so you know they are serious about their careers and motivated to make a change if the right opportunity comes along. Attendees are there for all the right reasons - seeking advancement in their present occupation; exploring career options; looking for a career that better matches their values.

Unique Format Makes Your Day Enjoyable and Productive
The Friday recruitment roundtables allow employers to meet 8 attendees every 30 minutes, affording you an opportunity to:

  • Meet hundreds of attendees, face-to-face, all in one day!
  • Present your company profile and employment opportunities.
  • Answer attendee questions.
  • Get a quick read on attendee qualifications.
  • Conduct additional interviews onsite.
  • Exchange resumes/business cards.
  • Receive post-conference attendee contact information.

Hosted Lunch and Presentation: Employment Branding
Included in your sponsorship is a hosted lunch and presentation by leading experts in employment branding. The panelists will be defining employment and consumer branding, describing their interrelationship, and outlining the employment brand development cycle from start (assessment) to finish (execution and measurement) and illustrate the metrics used to measure the ROI of your employment brand execution.

Panelists Include:

David Kippen
, Ph.D. serves as Vice President, Global Branding for TMP Worldwide. Dr. Kippen is responsible for leading the development and realization of employment brand positions and integrating cross-platform communications initiatives for TMP Worldwide's largest global accounts. Prior to joining TMP Worldwide, he served as Director of HR Communications at Kaiser Permanente.

Larry Greenfield
, Partner, Creative Director JWTEC. Larry Greenfield is the creative director for business development for JWT Employment Communications. He has been with the agency for 15 years and has created employer branding campaigns for Boeing, Kraft Foods, UCLA Healthcare, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Jack in the Box, Nissan, Universal Studios, Disneyland and many other major employers. He has worked in the agency’s New York and Atlanta offices, and in 1995 moved to Los Angeles to take charge of what is now the agency’s largest creative center.

Larry was born in Brooklyn and graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany with a double major in theatre and English. He brings to his role a very varied background, including previous careers in acting and teaching. He even spent time behind the wheel of a New York City taxicab. “Advertising, especially employment-related advertising, really does call on everything you ever learned about, well, everything. But especially about people,” he says. “There is no experience in my life that I do not call on from time to time.”

Mark Hornung is a Senior Vice President of Bernard Hodes Group. He returned to the Agency in 2003. Called “the father of employer branding,” he works with clients such as Limited Brands, Toyota Financial Services, The Clorox Company, Group Health Cooperative, and other major employers.

Previously, Mark was Managing Director for JWT Specialized Communications and head of that agency’s employer branding practice. In that capacity, he helped develop branding strategies for clients such as Starbucks Coffee Company, Fireman’s Fund Insurance, Discover Financial Services, Nissan North America, and Weyerhaeuser. He developed the curriculum for teaching employer branding online in the agency’s corporate university and was voted Best Instructor in 2002. He also managed seven offices in the Western U.S., working with clients such as Microsoft, Alaska Airlines, Intel, Jack in the Box, Honeywell, and Cisco Systems.

Mark was CEO of Bravant during 1999 and 2000, a start-up company that developed and marketed an online candidate behavioral assessment application called Career@gent.

From 1996 to 1999, he was Regional Director for the Pacific Region of JWT Specialized Communications and was instrumental in re-opening the Bay Area market for that agency. The San Francisco office that he began in 1996 was that agency’s Office of the Year in 1999, with accounts such as Gap Inc., Williams-Sonoma, and Bank of America.

Mark was with Bernard Hodes Advertising from 1980 to 1996, starting as a copywriter in the Agency’s Palo Alto office and rising to become the National Creative Director. Mark was instrumental in the development and launch of CareerMosaic, the first employment site on the World Wide Web (1994).

During his original stint with the Agency, he won awards for creative excellence from the Employment Management Association, the Business/Professional Advertising Association, the Western Art Directors Club, the Royal Australian Fine Arts Commission, the International Radio & TV Festival, the San Francisco Advertising Club and the San José Ad Club. His work appeared in ADWEEK and Print magazines. He worked with clients such as Apple, Kaiser Permanente, Syntex, Rockwell International, Lockheed-Martin, Intel, Microsoft, AMD, National Semiconductor, Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics, Northwest Airlines, and many others.

Since 1983, Mark has taught in the Marketing Communications certificate program of the Continuing Education department of San José State University. His classes include Advertising Strategy, Principles of Branding and Marketing, Business Writing, Copywriting, E-Mail Marketing, and Managing Collateral Projects. He was certified to teach online in 1999. He has also taught at San Francisco State University and Mission College in Santa Clara, CA.

Mark has a degree in Philosophy from John Carroll University in Cleveland. He has done Masters work in Mass Communications at San José State University.

Mark is past president of the San José Ad Club and former member of the Board of Governors of District XIV of the American Advertising Federation.

He is co-author, with Richard A. Moran, Ph.D., of Opportunities in Microelectronics Careers, which was published by the National Textbook Company in 1984. His private writing has also appeared in the New Yorker.

For a small, additional fee you will also have the opportunity to informally recruit (during meals and coffee breaks) a projected 350 additional alumni attending the optional January 28, 2006 Seasoned Professional Career Conference entitled, A Holistic Approach to Career Transition.
